#TypicalSense: Don't Despise Yourself, Challenge Yourself

Two years ago, while I was on transit to Taraba State, I learnt something fascinating about the current Governor of Benue State, Dr Samuel Ortom.

It was at Gboko motor park and while waiting for the taxi i was seated to get filled, I engaged the driver in a discussion. We talked about a whole lot of things, which finally culminated to discussing the governor, his policies and public acceptance.

But what intrigued me the most was his success in life, his struggles and tenacity. I discovered he was once a bus conductor at the park. From a bus conductor he graduated to being a commercial bus driver and later private driver of a prominent Gboko based man.

That did not limit him nor stop him from rising to become a salesman and sales manager of a food company.

It never stopped him from becoming a local government chairman, minister of the federation and currently the governor of his state. It was his patience that paved a new chapter in his life and that made him who he is today.

Since that moment onward my attitude to life changed. I realise that one thing that hold you down is yourself.

A whole lot of us are frustrated and dejected. As a young man, that you're financial incapacitated doesn't make you less human.

Dear readers, when people tag you poor and broke, when people will not associate with you because they felt you are not in there class, don't give up on yourself. Never allow your spirit to be dampen.
As you strive and hope for something bigger, do not despise that little thing that is capable of adding value to your life, no matter how 'degrading' it may appear.

It doesn't matter if you work as a sales man, as a messenger, or you are a labourer. Never despise that little trade, low salary pay or menial job.

Never allowed yourself to be forced into frustration, crimes and other social vices. There is nothing more dignifying than engaging in legitimate venture in order to be productive. There is dignity in labour.

And please, never allow anyone to look down on you due to your financial state in your time of trouble.

Keep up the struggle, always remember that "NO ONE KNOWS TOMORROW".

Again, do not forget to ask God for wisdom and guidance. One day, I am sure, your story will change for the better and those who look down on you today will celebrate you tomorrow.

    May God bless our hustle!

My name is Emmanuel Tobechukwu Aniagoh and I just want to make typical sense.
